Terms of Use
By creating a Poltergate account or using the Poltergate app, dongle or API, you agree to these terms. They are short on purpose.
1. What Poltergate is
Poltergate is a service for seeing and controlling iPhones remotely: a dongle plugged into the iPhone acts as its mouse and keyboard, the Poltergate app sends the iPhone's screen, and the dashboard at app.poltergate.com and our API let you watch and control it.
2. Only phones you may control
Use Poltergate only on iPhones that you own or that you are clearly allowed to control by their owner and user. You must not use it to watch or control someone without their knowledge, to read other people's messages or data, or for anything that breaks the law. The red recording indicator iOS shows while the screen is shared must not be hidden or disguised. We may close any account used this way.
3. Other apps and services
When you use Poltergate to operate other apps and websites on your phones, you remain bound by their terms. You are responsible for what your phones do, whether you control them by hand, by API, or by automated tasks.
4. Your account
Keep your password and API tokens secret; anyone who has them can control your phones. Share links give whoever has them access to that phone until they expire or you revoke them. Tell us at once at [email protected] if you think someone else got into your account.
5. The dongle
Each dongle has a one-time code on its sticker; whoever enters it first gets the dongle in their account, so keep the code private until you have used it. Dongles update their firmware from us automatically and accept only firmware we signed. Do not open, modify or reflash a dongle: it voids support for it.
6. Fair use
Do not attack, overload or probe the service, try to reach other customers' phones or data, or resell access without our written agreement. Automated use through the API is welcome within reasonable limits.
7. Payments
Prices, plans and what they include are shown when you buy. Paid features may stop working when a subscription ends; your account and data stay until you delete them.
8. What we promise and what we don't
We work hard to keep Poltergate secure and running, and we watch it around the clock. Still, the service is provided "as is": we do not guarantee it will never be interrupted or that it suits every purpose. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months.
9. Ending
You can stop using Poltergate and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms; where it is fair to, we will warn you first.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will email account holders before it takes effect; using the service after that means you accept it.
Privacy
How we handle data is in our Privacy Policy.
